about
Sambaza Peace is an interactive, digital and mobile learning program (cross media) that teaches and works with young people. This is the Demo version .9 and is currently being pilotted in Nairobi, after which it will be spread throughout Kenya. It is potentially suitable for young people in many countries, if you are interested in using it, helping us spread it, translating it etc. Please contact us.
The main objective of this program is to develop a culture of peace amongst young people by providing them with knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed for harmonious co-existence and non-violent living. Through the program young people learn to communicate their needs, prevent escalation of violence, enhance their self esteem, negotiate with family friends and community and school for their betterment in an assertive and peaceful way.
The project emphasizes the need to use new and innovative approaches to engage young people who are important change agents and whose world is increasingly saturated with media products that are capturing imaginations and can enhance their creativity. Premised on the theory of behavior change the project recognizes the fundamental role of young people in conflict transformation and community development. Young people are particularly vulnerable to crime and violence both as victims and perpetrators, and they are also important resources in finding effective solutions.
